Ice Rescue Drill
The members of the United Communities VFD spent the morning training on ice rescue techniques. With this winter being colder than the past several years, the freezing creeks have been tempting to kids in the area to wander out on. In the past two months, Maryland has had several ice rescues with one fatality. Having ice in the water to train on is a good opportunity for the members of our department to experience the real effect it has on rescues. It also has changed the way we would operate if someone fell through the ice. The department would like to thank John Shoemaker MFRI Instructor for assisting us.
