House Fire Washington Drive
Monday, May 19, 2014, at 09:14hrs, Station 9 was alerted for a smoke investigation. While in route to the call a column of black smoke was observed, upon arrival on location station 9 units found a single story rancher with an attached two car garage fully involved, with extension into the dwelling. The fire had also extended to a camper, pickup truck and boat that were located on the delta side of the dwelling. There were several explosions from propane tanks as well as ammunition. Officer 901 assumed command and requested Queen Anne’s to start a box assignment. The crew from Engine 92 and Engine 91 started the attack on the fire; Officer 902 had command of fire attack. Access was made into the dwelling and crews started to extinguish the fire, and prevented it from extending throughout the remainder of the house. Station 1 and 2 crews were able to stretch about 800 feet of 5” supply line from Route 8 to Engine 91, and Officer 102 assumed water supply. Two additional tankers where requested along with the power company and the State Fire Marshal. Station 1, 2 and 3 crews then assisted station 9 crew with extinguishment, as well as units from Anne Arundel County. The fire was placed under control at approximately 10:27hrs. Command requested additional units to the scene for manpower, and station 6 responded with two units. Red Cross was requested buy command for three adults. All crews preformed exceptionally well do to unforeseen circumstances, command was terminated at 13:45hrs.
