UCVFD places in service two RAD-57 Monitors

Wednesday, August 25, 2010 The United Communities VFD is placing in service two Rad-57 Monitors that where purchased with grant money the department received in May 2010. These monitors will be able to check an individual SpO2, which is the Oxygen saturation in someone’s blood; also this monitor is capable of checking for SpCO, which is Carbon Monoxide. Carbon Monoxide is a colorless and odorless gas and is the leading cause of poisoning in the United States, and a common hazard for first responders. These monitors will be utilized during rehab situations and possible CO poisonings. This department is one of two departments in Queen Anne’s County that carry this type of monitor. These monitors will be carried on our first line ambulance and our first line engine.
